  • the panel discussion (1/24) attracted over fifty people
  • great questions were raised

2. Solar
  • tilted panels have been approved
  • tentative timeline: racking in Feb., panels and wiring in Mar., dedication in May
  • the kiosk has been ordered and Bonneville is working on the kiosk slides
  • study of rooftop solar resources to begin
3. Conservation
  • first tip-of-the-week published
  • seeking funds to buy "turn-off-light" stickers
  • Buchanan Towers: more caulking in windows?
4. Wind
  • important to give Waterfront Committee a wind turbine proposal
  • the port is committed to setting up a meteorological station at the site
  • mobile sodar unit can be used to support met. data
5. Energy Monitors
  • 32nd St. bldg. has been studied before with these devices
  • Rec. Ctr. to be studied; Conservation Committee to take on this project

Solar

  • will meet with the administration on Wed.
  • kiosk content has been finalized and the kiosk model (touchscreen plus flatscreen) selected
  • major obstacle is having the engineering study done again for tilted panels
  • Ramiro will help us get over this obstacle

Education

  • An open panel discussion on conservation techniques is scheduled for Thurs, Jan. 24 in CF 125 from 6 to 8 pm (to lead into Focus the Nation events)
  • Posters to go up this week
  • Possible Feb. talk on biodiesel by WWU alumni

Conservation

  • more members are needed!
  • conservation tips to be posted on Arntzen hall and in WTA buses
  • Energy Challenge between dorms: residents earn points by attending SRE lectures and conserving energy
  • residence halls now give out CF bulbs

Wind

  • meteorological equipment to study wind resource on waterfront has been donated to us
  • the city will allow us to put the equipment up
  • Ramiro recommended that we summarize the long-term financial strategy of the wind project and submit it to the waterfront steering committee
